God sits on the Throne of your soul. Therefore the work to be done by us is to keep that soul (or heart) quiet and in peace.

The housework is to:

Keep it clean
Quiet
Void and peaceable
clean from guilt
quiet from fears
void of affections, desires and thoughts [ attachments]
peaceable in temptations and tribulations

As trouble comes, keep an even keel. Keep this heart peaceable in whatsoever quiet, temptation and tribulation shows up.

To get there enter into your self by means of internal recollection; prayer and a loving recollection of the Divine Presence.

Look for
silence in tumult
solitude in company
light in darkness
forgetfulness in pressures
vigour in despondency
courage in fear
resistance in temptation
peace in war
quiet in tribulation
